Aquired Siamese buck from NERD. He was 3 weeks old, slightly darker than a typical Siamese, dark ruby eyes. As he aged, he darkened significantly with dark, broad nose point. Photos below at time of purchase, at approximately 9 weeks, and as an adult.
Paired both daughters, Sen (self) and Chihiro (variegated) to their sire, Haku. Chihiro birthed 13 siamese, with a mix of black and red eye babies, self, variegated and some in between markings. Fairly dark, but not notably. Held all babies back longer but points never darkened like the first generation did. Held none back but adopted one black eye buck to a friend in case, Bodhi.
Sen produced only two babies, a male and female, self and Whiteside respectively. Both were very dark, about the shade of a Burmese. Both had dark ruby eyes. They continued to remain dark, though lightening up a little with age. However, by about 4 months of age, they both melted into nearly normal siamese, though just a tad darker, with broad nose point and dark ruby eyes. Held both back. Originally planned to pair Cassie to her brother, however, when attempting to pair him, he bit me and I decided not to continue with him and opted for an outcross. In hindsight,
OUTCROSS PAIRING - Paired to a nice self siamese dwarf named Kazuto. Produced 5 normal siamese offspring with normal red eyes and color. Held back a Male who grew to look like a normal red eye siamese. Lyra was paired one final time to Bodhi, a black eye Siamese from Haku and Chihiro. 12 pups born, mix of black pink and ruby eyes.
Gemini, a black eye male is held back. He is exceptionally dark with dark, broad mask. Expected color to lighten with summer months, however, it has remained dark through to early July. Black eye gene has no doubt darkened the coat but there is real progress! OUTCROSS PAIRING - Something interesting happened in an attempt at improving my tonkinese line via outcrossing to my marble line. Several generations ago, I paired a heterozygous tonkinese to Chihiro (Haku x River) in an attempt to improve temperament. I then paired a daughter, Cherry, to Kazuto, an unrelated dwarf Siamese. Then paired a Tonk son, Mochi, to Nel, out of my marble line. I outcrossed a daughter, Bonnie, once more to an unrelated Siamese dwarf, Juzo, and got 5 babies who at first appeared to be very light tonkinese. They had dark ruby eyes, which is normal for tonkinese. But these babies were just way light for normal tonkinese. The older they got, the more they resembled siamese, specifically, my original ruby siamese. There were no normal Tonk in this litter. There were the ruby eyed babies, a couple red eye siamese and some random black and russian blue babies. They grew and molted just like my original Rubies, developing broad, dark points and a dark overall body tone! It appears that this gene remained through the line and I am overjoyed!

With such great results from the Bonnie Colony, it was decided to dissolve the original line as it has not produced the desired results. The Bonnie line has produced several offspring that have the darkness we have been striving for. We will however, continue with 2 colonies, since the dark babies produced appear to be agouti based, and we want to move that over to seal point. Once the dark babies from the Bonnie Colony are old enough to reproduce, we will pair them and hopefully will get some dark seal point babies to continue in a separate colony which will replace the Original Colony. This new colony will also be where we introduce the black eye gene, so that we can still keep maintaining the ruby eyed colony for the future as not to lose it, but can further testing with the introduction of the black eye gene to continue striving for the darkest color.
